Bio
Hello! My name is Niko and I’m a multi-talented musician, with interdisciplinary experience in performance, production, and sound engineering. My work is characterised by my fascination with sound and my love for everything musical.
For over 5 years I have endeavoured to acquire as much professional experience as possible. I’ve worked with artists to co-write and produce their tracks, performed in countless concerts across diverse styles of music, and also worked as a live sound engineer.
But that’s enough talking for now, you’re here for some music!

Recording
In 2019, during college, I built up a home recording studio in my back garden. I had no prior experience in studios so I had to quickly learn, through online content and equipment manuals, what gear was necessary to make this space function.
The studio is centred around a 24-track Soundcraft Ghost LE mixing console, with all tracks routed through AD/DA converters to Pro Tools and Logic. In the space there is a variety of options for instrumentation, including a drum kit, keyboards, guitars and amplifiers. The space is intimate, so I wanted to pack as much potential into it as possible.
In this studio I have been able to record multiple songs for both by own projects and other artists’ work. I’ve also made use of the equipment to have a rehearsal space in which all performers can have individual headphone mixes, and record anything happening in the room as high-quality multitracks. The understanding and expertise I was able to gain through this project has aided me greatly in both my studies and professional career.
Below are some snippets of recordings I’ve engineered and produced in the studio!

Performance
As a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, live performance has formed a huge part of my musical journey. I play guitar, bass guitar, and drums, and I have a particular interest in Jazz, Bossa Nova and Progressive music.
I have performed in many different bands, starting from age 16 with indie outfit The Circuits playing multiple gigs across London. Within the year I had also formed my own professional backing band. We performed many concerts and recorded as session players in my studio for young singer-songwriters.
I’m also a member of Lennon Live, a John Lennon tribute band for which I play lead guitar. Performing in this band has required learning a large repertoire of Beatles songs and Lennon solo tracks.
Currently, I’m working on recording an album with my Jazz fusion trio, made up of performers I’ve now worked with for over 5 years.
Here are some clips of my past performances!

Composition
Another skill I’ve developed alongside my instrumental abilities is, naturally, composition. Learning instruments, for me, was mainly a vehicle to be able to write my own music, and my interest in an array of music genres has led me to develop a unique compositional style.
With my studio band I was able to learn skills in writing commercial pop music, examples of which can be heard under the ‘Recording’ section above. However, in my own time, and with my Jazz fusion band, I have explored styles that pull from all my musical influences. I expanded on this in University, working within the constraints of set briefs whilst still injecting my own flair.
Below is a few examples of music I’ve recently composed!
Reharmonisation
For this assignment, I was given the isolated vocal from a Twenty One Pilots track. I had to reharmonise it, and also re-arrange the song.
I chose to take a Jazz-inspired approach, with some influences from samba music and appropriate instrumentation.
Original Production
In my first year, my final project for ‘Synthesis, Sampling, and Sequencing’ was to create an original composition, arrange, and mix it using DAW and MIDI techniques explored throughout the module.
This was my response to the brief!
Sampling
Another assignment for my ‘Synthesis, Sampling, and Sequencing’ module involved creating an original composition around sampling techniques. I used a Nate Smith drum sample for this track, and built up a composition around it using samples to create some of the instruments.
